When she was still a human.
Kaija was silently sleeping on his shoulder dreaming of winter magic, snowflakes on the lashes turning into melting tears in her eyes, sirens calling through the deep silence of midnight, silver whisper of woods…
He just looked at her so peaceful and silent. Resting like a child on his shoulder and dreaming of that far fantasy world.
— Teller… don’t let me go. — whispered she into his ear turning him back to reality.
— Never. Never… Kaija.
He kissed her forehead and fell asleep embracing her tight.
… Back, back, back…. Give her back.
The voice was whispering to his ear. He opened his eyes and saw the same little girl. She was holding Kaija’s hand.
— Give her back. — said the girl. — She isn’t yours.
— Neither yours.
Teller’s voice was frosty cold. He looked at this child and knew what that was.
Suddenly she smiled. That was a cruel selfish grin.
— Fine. — hissed she and laughed. She took Kaija and they disappeared.
— NO!
… He woke up and looked around. None was lying near sleeping on his shoulder. The room was the same, nothing had changed since yesterday. But he was alone.
— Kaija. Kaija..? Are you here? — called he but there was no answer.
Kaija, come on. Please, say something. Where are you? Kaija…Kaija!!!
— She isn’t here. Stop yelling and listen to me. — Haave talked slowly, voice calm, looking at in Teller’s eyes.
— Where is she? I need to know. When did she leave? — asked he looking at emotionless Haave’s face.
— I’m here. Haave, don’t do that ever again. — said Kaija appearing near Teller. It seemed like she simply materialized from nothing.
— How…why, what… how is it possible? — sighed Teller looking at her being totally confused.
— I can do many things, don’t you know? — smiled she at him.
Teller was silent. He didn’t say a word to her and Haave. He was afraid. He was afraid to lose her one day, was afraid that even if he wouldn’t let her go she would simply disappear. And a cold tear fell down.
… — You know that I would never, never do that. I won’t disappear without telling you a word. Teller, please… — she was whispering to him hiding bitter tears and holding his hand tight. — Believe me, angel… I won’t leave you. Never. You hear, never… Why are you thinking about this?
She couldn’t hide her feelings anymore and tears were slowly falling down. She looked at him with pain and love.
— Do you trust me? — asked she looking in his eyes.
— Yes. I just… I just fear to lose you forever one day. I don’t want…
— So you won’t. If you’ll always be near.
