Wanderer’s Hideaways

A longing heart of the sea still calling me
Drowning deep in a dream
In-between hell and highwater
Final escape through the gates on the edge of the world

Life’s final chord, a dream long-lived
Cascading waters in an owl’s eye
Here, poor wanderer, lies your home
In midwinter wonder written once to escape

A longing heart of the sea still calling me
Drowning deep in a dream
Painting my eyes with October oblivion
Dawning upon winter awe
A veil beyond December snow labyrinth

Virgin snow covered all paths of time
Yet never leaving me lost and alone
Northern winds sing me a lullaby
Midnight plays a withered black sky piano
Longing song for my hoping heart

Life’s final chord, a dream long-lived
Cascading waters in an owl’s eye
Here, poor wanderer, lies your home
In midwinter wonder written once to escape

A song in me, a song in need
Little verse for a poet’s heart
Leaving lands with a silent kite

A dream in me, a dream resting deep
To hear your piano playing still
In this silence echoing in me

Life’s final chord, a dream long-lived
Cascading waters in an owl’s eye
Here, poor wanderer, lies your home
In midwinter wonder written once to escape
