Wolf’s Lullaby

A fox sleeps on the snow
He dreams of long silenced lullaby
Though never forlorn

He dreams of ever green meadows
And honey dales
Of sea quivering, endless
And bright twinkling stars

A dark wolf walks forever by
Guarding his sleep
Caressing his dreams

Enormous wolf guards his fox
On the white blanket of snow
Yet no one sees, no one knows
Of silent night’s wish
Of flaming eyes’ glow
No one ever heard the lullaby he howls
Silently weeping for his gold-and-red love

Little fox purrs to his wolf
Of devotion and love
Licking his wounds
Healing his scars
Shares his pain, living like his own
Gold-and-red fox caresses dark fur
Under midwinter stars

Golden fox and black wolf
Ever walking together through every peril
Sharing their pain and love

Still no one ever knows
The depth of this odd love
No one ever knows if they never heard
A wolf’s lullaby for his little one

Red -and-gold rests upon white snow
Still dreaming of ever lost world
Longing forever for his wolf’s lullaby
