Promises

Promises you shared…
Promises you whispered…

Laughter and hopeful sight
You told me one day you’d come
And I hoped without a hope
Though I knew it’s just words

Though we both sing for this hope
Hiding the tears behind a smile not to cast a shadow
Upon each other

Promises but doomed they were
Those words you’ve told
Yet burning that hope in me
Of which I still sing

Promises to make me believe
Promises to tear me apart
Promises for a real feel
Promises for a longing heart
Heartlessly yet with hope
We were caressing deep in soul

Promises you shared
I bore deep inside
Promises you whispered
I kept within caressing them dear

The words you told then
I imagined so bright, so real
And tears flew falling down with hopes unshed
Though yet hidden unseen
Those promises still alive within
Your promises I keep deep still
