The Only Dream

You were just a petal on butterfly wing
You were stardust in the wind
You were my dearest dream

Autumn leaves blazed with red and gold
Upon the edge of the world
When you came to my life
To put down my inner strife

Then I thought I was dreaming
Couldn’t get all my believing
Though I was just daydreaming

You were a beat of my heart
You were the best piece of art
With a kiss of menthol flavor
You were my baddest fever

All dear with a perfect soul
Beautifully cracked but still whole
Slightly scarred skin with lines of tattoos
My deepest wish dwells still in you

You were the one
Dear rhyme for love
You were the light
Tiny sparkle of life
Red thread of destiny
My heart’s sweet melody

You were the one for me
The one who could see
Imperfect heart and darkness within
Though you were my only dream
